Another season ends with the club making big strides forward. 3 teams were entered into the Northern Baseball League for the first time in the club’s history and all 3 teams had very strong showings!
Starting with The A’s – a big squad refresh meant that this was always going to be a challenging year for the team but under fresh guidance of Cam and Cesar, they took on the best of the league and finished with a winning 13-11 record. Finishing in an extremely impressive 3rd place in the Triple-A division, The A’s reached the playoffs but fell short in the semis to the eventual winners, Liverpool Trojans.
The Bees had an immense season, finishing second in the Single-A division with a massive 21-3 record! This was only bettered by Halton Trojans who lost 2 games all season (both to The Bees). A huge step forward for the team who have pushed on and become a real tidy, tough-to-beat side. The playoffs beckoned and The Bees took their semi-final game against new contenders Wragby Warhammers. The final was a step too far for the team who lost out to the very strong Sheffield Cubs, who took out the division winners in the other semi.
The C’s inaugural season was a fantastic showing! Ending the regular season with a 10-14 record, they were very close to a playoff berth in their first Single-A year. The C’s bled an impressive crop of new players for the club and will be hopeful to kick on in their second season with a winning combination of rookies and strong core of experience (aka old age).
Congratulations to all the players, coaches, and families involved in a great 2022 for Manchester Baseball Club. And also a big, big thank you to fans and who turned up to home games, it really made game-days special.
See you in 2023!
